Fund Raising Projects All the money we raise from the public goes into our service projects - none of it is used for club administrative expenses. We have three main sources of support for our service projects: - concessions - we provide concessions at various events, including many sity-sponsored ones such as Symphony Under the Stars and Arboretum Fest. - Homearama - we contract with Tidewater Builders Assoc to provide support services during the 3 week long event. - Golf Tournament - annual fall event at Cahoon Plantation Golf Course. Reading is Fundamental Once a quarter we visit two Head Start classrooms - Willow Grove in rural Hickory and E R Jones in urban South Norfolk. We read to the children and each child gets a book to take home along with a toy. We also sponsor 2 - 3 field trips a year for each classroom. Vantilla Parrish
Rena B Wright Elementary School This South Norfolk primary school has an incredibly dedicated faculty who go well beyoind what might be expected of them to ensure their students have the resources they need to get a good education. We provide support, usually financial, as requested by the staff. We have purchased school supplies and provided funds for school programs such as their clothes closet. At Christmas, we deliver a poinsettia to each faculty and staff member as a token of our appreciation for what they do. James Chellew
Service Leadership Programs We sponsor Key Clubs (Kiwanins Educating YOuth) at Hickory and Grassfield High Schools and the CKI club at TCC Chesapeake campus. These youth organizations dedicated to service are an important part of our Kiwanis family. James Chellew
