Kiwanis - Changing the World, AGAIN!  Kiwanis International Foundation has announced our second World Service Project.  Once again we will partner with UNICEF to eliminate neo-natal and maternal tetnus.  Tetnus spores live in the soil through out the world and can enter the body through any open cut.  Each year, 60,000 babies and 30,000 mothers die from lockjaw cause by the tetnus spore.  These deaths can be prevented with a series of three shots costing a (more)

Rena B Wright Receives Grant -  6/24/2010
Thanks to the efforts of our member Jim Chellew, Rena B Wright Elementary School ha received a $250 grant from Prudential Insurance.  The 25000 pennies is a big help toward their goal of collecting one million pennies for new playground equipment

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center Emergncy Room Project -  10/19/2009

In support of Chesapeake Regional's Emergency Room renovation, we have pledged $15,000 to establish a child's waiting area within the ER waiting area.  Frequently children have to come to the emergency room with a sick sibling or parent.  For these children, the wait can be long, booring and sometimes stressful for all in the wainting area.  Our contribution will establish a section with interactive games, TVs, computers and other activities to help the children pass the time(more)
